Jon and Julia’s Story

In January 2013, Mega Remodel completed the construction of a new home in Maple Grove. This farmhouse-style home donned a soft, green exterior color set with white trim and classic details. Homeowners Jon and Julia moved into their home and loved every inch of it.

Fast forward six years later, the couple decided that it was time to remodel and add a screened porch to create an even more perfect place where they could watch their family grow. With two energetic boys, ages 10 and 12, they also needed an additional outdoor family space where the boys could have their friends over without feeling stuck indoors all the time. Since their home had been custom-built and designed by Mega Remodel in 2013, Jon and Julia wanted this new porch remodel to blend perfectly with the current features of the home.

The homeowners reached out to Mega Remodel, who had done the initial construction of the home, to undertake this porch remodel project. Who else could know more about the initial design than the original builder?

The Remodeling Result

Through careful planning and organization, Mega Remodel was able to create the perfect screened porch seamlessly integrated into the original design of the home. The porch was completed in August 2019, and looking at the entirety of the home, it’s as if the porch has always been a part of the original home. The high pitch gables of the original home were emulated into the porch roof along with the same exterior features and color. Board and batten material were used on the porch ceiling, and the finished floor plan allowed for two seating spaces.

The attached walkout area to an unscreened section of the porch allows for casual barbecues during the day, and captivating star-gazing at night.

Direct access from the porch to the backyard allows the family a safe and easy passage to the yard where the boys can entertain their friends outdoors or camping out in the screened porch.

The homeowners will be able to use the porch for many months of the year with their addition of a gas fire pit and outdoor lounge furniture.
