3 Must-Haves to Add in Your Next Basement Remodel

A finished basement is the perfect spot to sit together with the family, watch movies, entertain guests, or just unwind. We took Katie and Jason’s unfinished basement from dull and colorless to cozy and inviting! While there were many design elements that came together to create this new basement space, we want to share 3 must-haves to help you get started and inspire your next remodel.

1. Large Screen TV with Floating Shelves

Floating shelves are a smart way to add design flare and function. Showcase seasonal decor or some of your favorite family photos. Here, the large screen TV is flanked by the floating shelves to create symmetry and tranquility. Comfortable seating is also a must to create an inviting gathering space.

2. Wet Bar

Adding a wet bar is a fantastic idea for upgrading your basement. Here, we designed the bar to be “walk up” style against the wall allowing a more open feel to the space. We incorporated the same style of floating shelves as the TV area to join these spaces together. We selected a navy subway tile which offered sophistication and fun.

This custom wet bar will be a great place to entertain, mix some drinks, or prepare snacks for the entire group. And no wet bar is complete without a beverage fridge! This unique addition will make it so easy to store all of the night’s drinks.

3. Modern Electric Fireplace

Adding a unique design feature like an electric fireplace can make sure your basement stands out. An electric fireplace can easily be controlled by remote, and can give you some additional features that traditional fireplaces can’t: a full flame viewing area, 2 different ember bed stone styles, and Wi-Fi controls. This is an additional conversation area that allows guests to feel like they can stay awhile!
